Who is Jesus?
Jesus is infinitely more than just an influential moral figure that most major religions acknowledge him as.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
John 14:6
Many major religions acknowledge Jesus in some meaningful way, but they disagree greatly on who he ultimately is. From a historical standpoint, most scholars, regardless of religious belief, agree that Jesus was a real person who lived in 1st-century Judea (modern day Israel). Some regard Jesus as a highly honored prophet and messenger. Others describe him as a moral historical figure or teacher, but not the Messiah or divine.
More Than a Moral Figure
Jesus is infinitely more than just an influential moral figure. So, what is his true identity? The Bible says that he was God in the flesh. He was the word made flesh. He existed in the beginning and all things were made through Him.
1)In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2)He was in the beginning with God. 3)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3
14)And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
Old Testament prophecies announce the deity of Christ. These prophecies declare that the Messiah was promised to be the Holy One.
6)For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
7)Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation, the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.” Isaiah 49:7
When Jesus walked on this earth he did not walk outside of the prophetic scriptures. He was the manifested presence of God promised to us in Genesis.
No man was ever righteousness enough to satisfy the penalty of God’s judgement because of our sins. Jesus was the only one worthy to pay that price because he was fully God and became fully man on this earth. He had to become a man to be able to die for man. His purpose for coming to earth was to die for our sins so that mankind would be redeemed through faith in him. This is the kind of love that he has for mankind. He loves us more than we can ever truly understand. He willingly laid his life down, even for those who hated him, so that we could have the chance to live in eternity with him.
TV shows, movies, and other descriptions about Jesus have watered down the severity of the beating and mocking he endured for us. No mere man is able to withstand the full judgement of God. Jesus died, but make no mistake, he didn’t stay dead. Through the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was raised from the dead and is now seated in Heaven at the right hand of the Father. He is the ONLY way to the Father. There are many resources to dive deeper into who Jesus is. Feel free to check out my resources page for more information.
You can Know Jesus today…right now
6)Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Life on this earth is temporary, but eternity is well…..never ending.
You can choose where you want to spend it. The other option is not one I’d choose for myself or want for anyone else. I’m not here to sugar-coat this. Hell is real whether you want to believe it or not.
The bible assures us that Christ is coming back. When he returns, he’s coming back as the conquering King. When he does return, where will you stand?
Life on this earth spent with him is way better than a life spent without him. Get to know His love for you. All it takes from you is a confession of faith that he died on the cross for your sins and was raised on the third day, a surrendering of your heart, and repentance of your sins. If you are ready to make a commitment and declare that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of your life then please say this prayer:
heavenly father,
today i repent and ask you to forgive me of my sins. i believe that jesus christ died on the cross for my sins, was raised from the dead, and now reigns in heaven with the father. jesus, i receive you into my heart as my lord and savior. today i am yours and i belong to you. fill me with your holy spirit.
If you just prayed this prayer and meant it then you are now a new creature in Christ and the angels are rejoicing over you!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
“Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:10 ESV
